CECIL

Here we have Dog First Class Cecil of the cutter Perseus WPC-114 about 1955. He's showing SN Roger Goad the way to the bridge. Cecil was "supposedly" the son of Chief Dog Maxmillian, the famous mascot of the cutter Northwind, and an unnamed collie. Cecil had a distinguished career at sea on board Perseus from 1955-1958.

Salty, feline mascot at Air Station San Diego, stowed away with her kittens on an amphibious reconnaissance plane just before it took off to rescue a pilot at sea in 1945.
RUNWAY RUNAWAY
Photo: U.S. Coast Guard Which one is the turtle? This little guy needed a helping hand from a U.S. Coast Guard aviator to cross a runway safely, according to the Coast Guard's Twitter account. PORT SECURITY

Photo: U.S. Coast Guard Ever vigilant on the waterfront. Even at nap time. "Halt. Who goes there? Oh it's you."

K-9 AVIATIORS

Photos: U.S. Coast Guard No it's not Snoopy vs the Red Barcon. It's K-9 aviators geared up and strapped in for patrol with a U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety and Security Team, Seattle. Safety first.
